Baraat weddings, also known as baraatis, are a traditional part of Indian weddings. They’re a culturally beautiful and colorful celebration that involves the groom on horseback and his family traveling to the bride’s house for the wedding ceremony.

The groom, dressed in a sherwani or a similar outfit, rides on a decorated horse or a horse-drawn carriage accompanied by his family and friends, who dance and sing to the beat of the music.

While the bride’s family waits eagerly to welcome the groom and his entourage, the bride’s mother and other female relatives perform an aarti, a traditional ritual of welcoming the groom by performing prayers and offering him sweets and gifts. The groom and his family are invited inside the wedding venue, where the ceremony takes place.
